BEFORE YOU GO

  • Download the required offline data before relying on the app away from a connection.
  • Routes, estimates, forecasts and hazard records can be incomplete or wrong.
  • Plan and adjust routes only when it is safe. Never operate the app while driving.
  • No hazard marker does not mean no hazard. The app is not an emergency service.

1. About these terms

These terms cover the Nepal Offline Maps app and this website, provided by Shankar Tiwari. This is an independent app, not a government service.

By using the app after these terms take effect, you agree to them to the extent permitted by applicable law. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Google Play’s applicable terms also govern downloading the app from Google Play. These terms do not remove rights that the law gives you and that cannot be excluded.

2. Safe navigation is your responsibility

Do not interact with the app while driving or in another unsafe situation. Stop safely before searching, dragging map points, selecting turns or changing a route. Always obey traffic laws, signs, closures and directions from authorities.

The app provides mapping and route suggestions, not a guarantee that a road is open, safe, legal, accessible or suitable for your vehicle or abilities. A suggested route can include errors, missing restrictions, outdated surfaces, unsuitable turns or incomplete trail information. Distance, travel-time and arrival estimates are approximate.

GPS guidance depends on a usable device location. Manual guidance is not live tracking: choosing or moving a point, or advancing through a turn list, changes a planned or manually indicated position. It does not measure where you actually are. Verify your surroundings independently.

Keep a suitable backup for remote travel, including power and other navigation or emergency arrangements. Do not rely solely on this app for high-risk travel, rescue, disaster response or decisions where incorrect information could cause harm.

3. Offline maps, GPS and device requirements

Offline maps, search and routes need the required map data on your phone. Download it before your trip. Initial downloads and updates need internet access, enough storage and a supported Android device.

Offline data is a snapshot, not a live view. We do not guarantee that every place, road, business, trail or restriction is included or current.

GPS can work without mobile internet, but it can be unavailable or inaccurate indoors, in difficult terrain or because of permissions or device conditions. Spoken guidance depends on the voices available on your phone.

You are responsible for your device, power supply, storage and any internet, roaming or mobile-data charges. Clearing app storage or removing the app may remove downloaded data and saved information.

4. Weather and hazard information

Online weather uses forecasts from MET Norway. Hazards use published BIPAD Portal information. Both are optional and may not reflect conditions at your exact location.

  • Records can be late, missing, approximate, duplicated, corrected or unavailable.
  • A displayed item may have been saved earlier rather than freshly received. An update time does not guarantee that the information is still current.
  • A missing or expired hazard does not prove that a danger has ended, a road is open or travel is safe.
  • A forecast is not a measurement at your exact location and is not an emergency warning service.

Always check local conditions and follow official instructions. The app does not provide emergency dispatch, submit reports to authorities, or guarantee hazard notifications. Shankar Tiwari is not affiliated with or endorsed by BIPAD Portal, MET Norway or the Government of Nepal. Availability of third-party information may change or be discontinued.

5. Information sources

Use the app for lawful navigation and planning. Do not misuse its online services or present its information as an official government instruction.

Map, weather and hazard information come from other sources. Their own terms may apply.

  • Map data: © OpenStreetMap contributors.
  • Weather forecasts: MET Norway.
  • Hazard information: BIPAD Portal.

If you reuse information from these sources, check their terms and give any required credit.

6. Availability, cost and updates

The app is free to download and currently has no advertising. This is not a promise that all future releases will remain ad-free or that every online feature will be provided indefinitely. Any future charges will be clearly disclosed before you choose to incur them.

We may change the app, update offline map data, fix errors, or suspend features for maintenance, legal requirements or abuse prevention. Compatible Android versions and storage requirements can change. We do not promise uninterrupted service, a particular response time, continued access to outside data services or a fixed update schedule.

Feature availability depends on the installed release, offline data, device and network conditions.

7. Privacy and shared information

The Privacy Policy explains what stays on your phone, what online services receive and how crash reports are handled. No account is required for the app.

If you choose to share a place or send a support message, take care with the information you disclose. A shared map link contains coordinates. We do not control how another person, messaging app or third-party site handles information you send to it.

8. Limitations and your legal rights

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the app and its information are provided “as is” and “as available,” without a guarantee of completeness, accuracy, availability or suitability for a particular journey or purpose. You are responsible for deciding whether and how to act on a suggested route or other information.

To the extent the law allows, Shankar Tiwari is not responsible for losses caused by reliance on inaccurate or unavailable third-party information, interruptions to connectivity, incompatible or incomplete offline map data, or use of the app in an unsafe manner. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

If a concern arises, contact us with enough non-sensitive information to investigate.

9. Changes and contact

We may revise these terms as the app evolves. The date above identifies this revision. Material changes will be communicated where required. The archived 2021 Terms & Conditions remain available for reference to earlier releases.
